Croyde Deckchair Cinema

Croyde Deckchair Cinema is a not-for-profit organisation that enables charities,

local groups and individuals to raise money for good causes.

.

.

Since the early 1990's Chris had been interested in owning and running an "niche" cinema experience.

.

The seed of thought for Croyde Deckchair Cinema was born after a 8 month surf trip around Austraila and New Zealand. Then in 2006 I was looking for a way to raise money to create a Croyde Skateboard Park and finance a weekly winter youth club.  An outside Cinema seemed a great idea - although the British summer weather soon halted any plans.

.

An indoor Deckchair Cinema Experience was considered worth a try . . . . . . . . .

.

For the first 3 - 5 years we only showed about 6 - 9 films a year,  but slowly after a underwriting agreement from a local supporter (thank you Nadine) we started to increase the frequency of our film shows and started to be more adventurous with the events.

.

In 2015 we were acknowledged by the B.F.I. (British Film Instutute) and awarded new cinema equipment.

.

We currently show films under these different banners/clubs   :-

.

"Social, Ethical & Environmental" film club

"Surf films / Action Sports films"

"Family friendly / Disney - school holiday films"

"BFI Specialised" film group (British, Classic, Silent, Foreign Language)

"Charity Fundraising events"

"Music documentaries" followed by music and dancing

. .

We are very proud to have over the years - raised a very large amount of money for Local, National & International good causes.
